OTS South - swimmer of the year (2009) Print
Written by Pascal Anson

Phil Hodges25 Swimmers and friends celebrated Out To Swim South’s 3rd Birthday at Donatello’s restaurant in Brighton last Friday.  Phil Hodges was unanimously voted to be the most improved swimmer of the team in 2009.

He was handed the award by Steph who won the trophy in 2008.  As well as being used by the coaches as a demonstration swimmer of late (have you seen his kick?!!!?), Phil has now been creeping occasionally into the faster lanes and is hoping for a sub-30 seconds 50m Freestyle swim at the South East Masters in January 2010 (no pressure!) ... all this from someone who says he couldn’t put his face underwater when he first started swimming with us.

This achievement is down to Phil’s hard work and teeth gritting dedication and also the support of our coaches Steve and Brian.  Congratulations all round.

(Ed:  If you want to see the report on last year's winner, then here it is.)
