Try/Visit - Brighton
We have sessions in Prince Regent Pool in the centre of Brighton in the week. Our main and most popular weekly session is in Roedean on Saturday, where we have the whole pool to ourselves.
Mondays 8:30-9:30 pm and Thursdays 7:30-8:30pm, Saturdays 6-7pm. Swimming Complex every week. Free car parking. Do not pay at the reception but simply meet us in the lounge area to the right of the entrance.
Church Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 1YA
From the 16th September 2019, we will offer learn to swim sessions on the Mondays session at the Prince Regent swimming pool 8:30 9:30. A dedicated lane and coach will be made available for all people wishing to learn to swim or who are not confident in swimming. For details of membership click here.
Our Saturday Roedean session is temporarily moved to Prince Regent.
Directions to Roedean
To get to the pool at Roedean, drive up to the gates, they will open automatically, then follow the road over the mini roundabout, then up to the top, where the road veers towards the left slightly, follow the road along, then if you look to your right there is a sharp turn, the pool is accessed from car park at the bottom of this turning. If you are driving, please park in the visitors Car park which is on the right before the turning for the pool (we are not permitted to park in the car park in front of the pool). You may wait in the visitors car park before the swimming session if you want to arrive early. Cyclists can bring cycles into the pool building.
The closest bus stop is Roedean School (which is the stop after Roedean Cafe), numbers 12, 12a, 14 and 27 go east from North Street (stop C) and the Sea Life Centre (stop K) along Marine Parade towards Rottingdean.
The entrance is not the one facing the main road, just walk back a few metres and follow the pathway along the fence through the meadow to the gate. For road vehicles the gate opens automatically by sensor, so you can either wait for a car or a cyclist to trigger the gate, or call the reception and tell them you are with OTSS.
If you need a lift for to Roedean, let us know in advance or post a request for a lift on our Facebook group (see link here). We often have other club members driving and a popular pick up spot is in front of the old AMEX building on Edward Street at around 4:40 PM.
Sea Swimming (Open water swimming)
In summer we have informal meet ups to go sea swimming in groups. We organise these through the club’s social media. People pair up with someone of a similar speed to keep an eye on each other. It’s a beautiful way to enjoy Brighton & Hove as we are so lucky to live right by the sea! We also participate in the annual pier to pier swim competition and new years day swim.
Prince Regent :
The prince regent has disabled changing rooms and two disabled toilet areas. The main pool has a hoist, of which will needed to be requested to be used at reception on arrival. Please allow extra time before hand to ensure you will be ready for the start of the session. There is also a lift to the upstairs viewing balcony area.
