Out To Swim Newcastle

Welcome to OTS Newcastle (OTSNE), an inclusive and welcoming swimming club for the LGBTQ+ community and allies founded in 2025. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or just dipping your toes in the water, our club offers a safe, supportive, and friendly environment for everyone to enjoy swimming, improve their skills, and connect with like-minded people.

Training

We run 4 weekly sessions around Newcastle. Find our Schedule below.

The club is split into 4 lanes depending on ability. This is so everyone can have a productive and effective training session. We want our members to develop and grow their swimming fitness and skills, as well as their mental and physical health.

Mondays 8-9pm, Thursdays 7.30-8.30pm, and Saturdays 11-12am at Heworth Leisure Centre

Tuesday 7.30-8.30pm is at The Lakeside Centre.

Social

We enjoy swimming, but we’re also joined by our passion for socialising, so we organise regular social events. We run fortnightly brunches at the Lock and Quay in Gateshead and have an active Social Secretary who’s always looking for ways to keep us engaged in and out of the water.

How to Join

Please register using the form linked below.
Our membership secretary will you contact you to arrange a trial and you can then attend one of our trial sessions, where we will assess your speed and ability. This is so we can better place you in the club and ensure a productive session for all.
Currently we’re unable to offer Swimming Lessons, so you need to be able to swim at least 4 lanes of Front Crawl/Freestyle.

Join Us!

Fees

We have a few different membership options available to our members:

  • Newcastle fees: £36 a month for unlimited swims or £22 a month if you only swim once a week

Each year, members pay an annual fee to cover membership for Swim England (UK Amateur Swimming Association) and this is required for insurance purposes.

  • Swim England Train fee: £12

  • Swim England Compete fee: £40

We offer means tested discounts to anyone who may need support with funding their membership with Out to Swim.
