With sessions every day at pools across central London, Out to Swim offers a great value for money way to keep fit, meet new friends and train hard towards your next competition.
To provide the best environment for all, members are grouped by ability as below.
The seven ability groups are detailed below and each group has dedicated pool time, check out Venues & Times for more info.
Perfect for non-swimmers and those looking to build their swimming confidence and ability. Fondly named the OTS Ducklings you'll find yourself part of a fantastic group of like-minded men and women who have the support of each other throughout the course. It's not high pressure and there's certainly no limits, take as long as you need to find your fins and when you're ready the coach will let you know it's time to jump up to the next level. Not everyone is a complete novice, but neither are they ready for the main club just yet either. That's why we've created Development where at minimum we'd expect you to be able to:
- Swim 12 lengths freestyle without stopping
- Swim 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke and 25m fly
- Tumble turn
The main club is divided into four groups as below. To aid effective segmentation the following minimum standards exist. Life is a journey, not a destination and as such you may find yourself having been part of all four groups throughout your time with OTS, the coaches will let you know when they feel it’s better for you to try a different group. It's not about pride, it's about creating the best environment for you so even if you are asked to rejoin a previous group it's not forever and the decision is focused with your interests in mind.

Creating a great environment isn't just the coach's job. Each and every member shares this responsibility, check out our guide to Lane Etiquette and make sure you're on the same page with our Glossary of Swimming Terms.
At this point you'd be forgiven for thinking OTS are a focused bunch who only have time for swimming, well not quite - we host a wide range of socials all throughout the year that are open to everyone!
