Hail from the Swedish archipelago, there’s a new(ish) sport called “Swimrun” - unlike aquathlon, where athletes would swim, getting changed then run; Swimrun requires participants swimming and running in the same kit, shoes and all, repeatedly. You can use almost any kit you wish - pull buoys, fins, paddles, wetsuit, as long as you run with all your kit on you.
OTS athletes Rowan, Izzy, Katie and friend got their first taste of it in Tooting Bec Lido:
“OTS + guest for our first attempt at a SwimRun yesterday at Tooting Lido! We covered a total of 8 legs of swim-run over 8k of running and 1k of swimming. Katie and I were apparently first female team to cross the line, Rowan and friend Steph were recovering from their Glasto trip, and soon discovered that kicking your legs in the pool with trainers on is worse than not kicking at all.” - Izzy
